Richie Grace drove his Motor Exploder BMW e30 to a hard fought victory in Saturday’s NASA southeast Spec e30 series at Atlanta Motorsports Park. The competition was fierce throughout the entire race as #440 had to battle it out with some of the best drivers on the East coast. After leading for the majority of the race, he was passed in on the last lap, but made a spectacular move just a few corners later to secure the win. On the podium Grace credited 2nd and 3rd place finishers James Barakat and Walter Araya for one of the most hard fought and fun battles that he’s ever experienced. He joked that the real edge in the race was his new Motor Exploder “Ultimate Driving Shirt”.
Unlike Saturday’s beautiful weather, the two Sunday races were held in almost monsoon like conditions. Despite having no rain tires, Rich drove his #440 car heroically to 2nd and 3rd place finishes on slick tires. He leaves Atlanta Motorsports Park in 2nd place in the championship, just 1 point shy of 1st place. NASA southeast’s next round is at Roebling Road Raceway on April, 1st.
